Day 1: DEPARTURE CITY - ISTANBUL

Overnight flight to Istanbul.
 

Day 2: ISTANBUL

Upon arrival at Istanbul airport we transfer to our centrally located Hotel. Due to the long and tiring Transatlantic flight, spend the rest of the day to rest. Dinner and Overnight at the Hotel.

 

Day 3: ISTANBUL

Breakfast. Your day begins with a guided tour exploring one the most famous churches of the Byzantine Empire, the Chora Church, with magnificent mosaics depicting the Biblical scenes in a chronological order. Then continue on your ancient city tour with highlights including the magnificent Topkapi Palace. Afterwards you will walk across the Byzantine Hippodrome that was the scene of chariot races. In the afternoon you will visit Haghia Sophia Basilica, the historic seat of the Byzantine church, built in 537 AD. It is now a museum whose mosaics, stained glass windows and decorated domes have been crafted to create an environment of breathtaking beauty. A short walk through the gardens takes us to the Blue Mosque of Sultan Ahmet I, built in 1616, that is famous for unequalled ceramic tiles. Dinner and Overnight at the Hotel.

 

Day 4: ISTANBUL - GALLIPOLI - CANAKKALE

Breakfast. Morning departure from Istanbul for Gallipoli, site of one of the worst defeats by the Allies forces during the First World War. We will visit Anzac Cove and Lone pine cemetery.  Afternoon crossing of the Dardanelles to Canakkale. Dinner and Overnight at the Hotel.

 

Day 5: CANAKKALE

After breakfast enjoy a guided  tour of Canakkale. Start with a visit to the Cimenlik Castle then continue to the Turkish districts of Camii Kebir and Çay with a stop at the Fatih Mosque. We then walk through the Jewish district, Victory Square,  Muriel Bazaar, Cumhuriyet Meydaný (Republican Square) and the Public Gardens (Halk Bahcesi). In the afternoon join your Tour Director for a walk along the waterfront. Free time. Dinner and Overnight at the Hotel.

 

Day 6: CANAKKALE - TROY- PERGAMUM - KUSADASI

After breakfast visit Troy with its famous wooden horse. We drive to Pergamum and visit the Acropolis, the steepest theatre of the ancient world, the temple of Trojan and the Library. Then we continue with a visit to the Asclepion, an ancient healing center and to the Red Basilica which is one of the Seven Churches of the Apocalypse. Late Afternoon arrival in Izmir. Dinner and Overnight at the Hotel.

 

Day 7: KUSADASI - EPHESUS - PAMUKKALE

Breakfast. Full day tour to the ancient city of Ephesus. Visit the house of the Virgin Mary, and then the basilica of St. John (who accompanied the Virgin Mary to Ephesus), the Celsus Library, the marble paved Arcadian Road, the Roman Baths, the theatre where St. Paul preached, the temple of Artemis (one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World), and see the statue of Ephesian Artemis while touring the Archaeological museum of Ephesus in Selcuk. Late afternoon arrival in Pamukkale.  Dinner and Overnight at the Hotel.

 

Day 8: PAMUKKALE

Breakfast. Today we spend the day in Pamukkale area visit the ancient town of Hierapolis. An unusual natural and historical site with the sparkling white castle - like cascades, Pamukkale is one of the most important highlights of Turkey, unique in the world. The site is named in Turkish as "Pamukkale", that means "cotton castle", parallel to the glorious and spectacular view of the site. The dazzling white calcareous castles are formed by limestone-laden thermal springs, creating the unbelievable formation of stalactites, potholes and cataracts.  Dinner and Overnight at the Hotel.

 

Day 9: PAMUKKALE - PERGE - ANTALYA

After breakfast we make our way towards Turkey's South Coast. On the way to Antalya we visit Perge. Originally, a Hellenistic settlement, which later developed into a thriving Roman city, Perge is a historicist's delight. Situated only 18 km from Antalya in the Pamphylion plain, Perge has a long legacy (almost from 1500 B.C.) to narrate with its initial inhabitants being the Hittites. Its importance also lies in the fact that the ruins of the Roman city provides a very complete picture of the past, thus making it archaeologically invaluable. We then continue to Antalya. Free time. Dinner and Overnight at the Hotel.

 

Day 10: ANTALYA

Breakfast. Today let your Tour Director guide you around this wonderful coastal town. Antalya is the place where sea, sun, history and nature constitute a perfect harmony and which also includes the most beautiful and clearest coast along the Mediterranean. The city still preserves its importance as an historical centre. Dinner and Overnight at the Hotel.

 

Day 11: ANTALYA - ASPENDOS - KONYA

After breakfast depart for Konya, en route visiting the stunning ancient theatre in Aspendos. After a beautiful drive thought the coastal mountain range you will arrive in Konya, visiting the Mevlana Mausoleum and Karatay Koran School. Dinner and Overnight at the Hotel.

 

Day 12: KONYA - CAPPADOCIA

Breakfast. Morning departure for Cappadocia, on the way paying a visit to 13th century Agzikarahan caravansary. Welcome to the land of Fairy Chimneys. Upon arrival in Cappadocia enjoy the rest of the day at leisure.  Dinner and Overnight at the Hotel.

 

Day 13: CAPPADOCIA

After breakfast we will visit the famous underground city of Kaymakli, built under the hill known as the Citadel of Kaymakli and was opened to visitors in 1964. People of Kaymakli village have constructed their houses around nearly one hundred tunnels of the underground city. The inhabitants of the region still use the most convenient places in the tunnels as cellars, storage areas and stables, which they access through their courtyards. Kaymakli Underground City has low, narrow and sloping passages. While the city has 8 floor, only 4 of them are open to the public today, in which the spaces are organized around the ventilation shafts. Dinner and Overnight at the Hotel.

 

Day 14: CAPPADOCIA - ISTANBUL

After breakfast we will transfer to Kayseri airport to board a domestic flight to Istanbul. Today is at leisure for you spend as you wish. You may want to join your Tour Director for a last minute shopping spree at one of the many Istanbul Bazaars. Dinner and Overnight at the Hotel.

 

Day 15: DEPARTURE

Transfer to the airport for your flight home.
