Overnight flight to Athens.


Upon arrival at Athens airport we transfer to our centrally located Hotel. Due to the long and tiring Transatlantic flight, spend the rest of the day to rest. Dinner and Overnight at the Hotel



After breakfast we will meet our tour guide and we will embark on a half-day walking tour of Athens. You will see the House of the Greek parliament then, walking through the Syntagma Square to a Byzantine church with a short visit (either Sotira of Lycodimos or the Kottakis Church) Walking through Plaka, the old town of Athens, you will visit Lysicrates monument and Hadrian's Arch. Afterwards, a ten-minute walk up the beautiful pedestrian walkway will bring you to the Acropolis with its spectacular views over the city below. Your guide will give a detailed explanation of the history of the glorious monuments of Acropolis its surrounding monuments and sites. Take a deserved rest and in the afternoon join your tour director on a visit through Athens. See three impressive Neo-Greek buildings; the Library, Academia and the University, as well as Cathedral of St. Denis, the main Catholic Church of Athens as well as the Henry Schliemann house and the newly discovered tombs in Syntagma Square. Dinner and Overnight at the Hotel.



After breakfast we board a domestic flight to Heraklion, the largest city in Crete. Upon arrival we will start our Crete journey with Guided Tour of Palace of Knossos, one of the most impressive archaeological sites in the world. Here you will see the Palace’s Hall of the Royal Guard, the Hall of the Double Axes, the King’s Chamber with the alabaster throne, the Queen’s Apartment, as well as its beautiful courtyards and shrines. Leaving Palace of Knossos our local guide will introduces you to Heraklion, Greece’s sixth largest city. See the massive city walls, the grave of Nikos Kazantzakis, the author of Zorba the Greek and stroll along Market Street, famous for its fresh fruits and vegetable stalls. Then make your way to the Basilica of St. Mark, where you can see El Greco’s The Baptism of Christ. Dinner and Overnight at the Hotel.



Breakfast. Today your tour director will lead you on one of Greece’s most impressive Minoan archaeological wonders. As you explore the ruins, think about what life may have been like for all of the people who lived here so many years ago. Perched atop a hill, surrounded by mountains and overlooking a valley of small villages is the Minoan palace of Phaistos. Built in 2000 B.C., the palace exhibits an extensive irrigation and sanitation system, typical of Minoan architecture. You’ll also visit the Gortyna archaeological site and the Matala caves, once frequently visited by the Roman general, Brutus. Late afternoon return to Heraklion. Dinner and Overnight at the Hotel.



Breakfast. Enjoying a day in Agios Nikolaos. Thanks to the beautiful coasts, the great sights and the cosmopolitan life, this live city hosts every year thousands of visitors without losing one bit of its tranquillity and traditional hospitality. We will dedicate the morning to a visit to the Archaeological Museum, where you can admire a rich collection of various items found in the surrounding and area dating from the Minoan Period to the Roman. In the afternoon we walk around the shopping area of town. You can find everything! There are many tourist shops, full of excellent articles of traditional Cretan art. We also visit few fine art galleries and woven handicrafts, jewellery shops, international bookstores, kiosks with Greek and foreign press. Dinner and Overnight at the Hotel.



After breakfast we will drive to Ierapetra, the southernmost town of Europe. Ierapetra is one of the most productive regions of Greece and one of Europe's main sources of early fresh fruits, vegetables, olive oil and flowers. The population is employed in agriculture -mainly in all year round cultivation of vegetables. Through the years Ierapetra became  a distinctive town. The old inner part of the town and the harbour will give us plenty to see a do for the day. Late afternoon return to Agios Nikolaos. Tonight, experience Crete’s unique and colourful culture during an evening of traditional music, entertainment and cuisine. Enjoy an authentic meal composed of typical dishes at a specially selected taverna. Watch an enthralling belly-dance performance, and witness the fancy footwork and twirling of traditional Greek dancing, while musicians perform on bouzoukis, stringed instruments unique to Greece. Overnight at the Hotel.



After breakfast we travel to Rethymnon on route to Chania for a day of exploring. Begin your visit in the historic Old Town. See the Venetian Fortezza, created to protect the town from cannon fire. Despite its lengthy perimeter (1,819feet), the fort ultimately failed to help the town because the Turks simply went around it. Walk down to the old harbour, which boasts a wide variety of shops and restaurants. Visit the mosque of Nerantzes and the Church of the Four Martyrs. Next make your way to Chania, known for its unique Venetian-Turkish architecture. Chania’s picturesque location, nestled between the mountains and the sea, has made it a popular tourist destination.  Dinner and Overnight at the Hotel.



After breakfast we will explore the province of Kissamos. Starting from Chania we drive to Kolibari and Moni Gonias, where we visit the two northwest edges of the region (the peninsulas of Rodopos and Gramvousa). Next, we go through the fruitful valley of Kissamos to reach Kasteli and the ancient town of Falasarn. We then move to the southwest part to visit Chriscoscalitissa Monastery and Elafonisi. Late afternoon return to Chania. Dinner and Overnight at the Hotel.



Breakfast. Today we shall spend the day in Chania. We venture into the old town and walk its narrow streets and alleyways as the atmosphere changes and becomes charged with history. Most prominent are its Venetian buildings and fortifications as well as the covered market. In the afternoon we visit the Maritime Museum. This evening we have dinner in a traditional Chania taverna before we board our Night Ferry to Athens.


Day 11: ATHENS

Breakfast. Disembark the ferry in Athens. The day is yours to spend as you wish. Perhaps you would like to visit the Archaeological Museum, where you see ancient pottery, jewellery, coins, statues and more. Dinner and Overnight at the Hotel.



Transfer to the airport for your flight home.
